SOFTBALL 2025 INFORMATION
We have obtained dates from Sheridan Schools and are working to avoid scheduling conflicts with Rising Stars, Music Programs, Elementary Carnivals, 5th grade camp, and Graduations (Pre-School, Kindergarten, and High School) that impact relevant age groups.
6U-12U:
Evaluations - Saturday, March 15.
Open Gyms will be held Saturdays, February 1, February 15, and March 1. (see below for more details).
Parent Meeting will be held during camp (held by SHS softball team, optional for a fee) on Saturday, March 22. We plan to have sample uniform shirt fittings during evaluations and/or camp and will make any necessary size changes before ordering.
Practices start the week of March 24.
Games start mid-April.
- For 6u, average 5-8 games per season. Games are held on Saturday mornings at Sheridan and Hamilton Heights. Transportation is required. This age group is the most manageable with other SCRI Spring Sports (soccer, tennis, golf).
- For 8u-12u, average 8-14 games/ season. Games are held at Sheridan, Westfield, Hamilton Heights, Noblesville, and Lapel on weeknights and Saturdays. Transportation is required. We will try to schedule any away games at Lapel on Saturdays. The practice and game schedule for these age groups can sometimes/often conflict with other SCRI Spring Sports (soccer, tennis, golf). Multi-Sport or Travel players MUST communicate schedule with Head Coach so substituations can be planned as needed. Travel players are allowed, but cannot pitch in recreation games.
SCRI Youth Softball Night is scheduled Tuesday, April 29th at the High School Varsity game vs. Clinton Central 5:00pm.
Hamburger Fry is scheduled Saturday, May 10th (Mother's Day weekend). This is a SCRI annual tradition and fundraiser with all Sheridan softball, baseball, and t-ball teams playing at home this day. We will also try to schedule pictures this day.
End of season tournament - Will be held weeknights Monday, June 9- Friday, June 13.(8u- Westfield, 10u- Cicero/Arcadia, 12u- Lapel). Single elimination tournament.
7th & 8th Grade:
Practices and Home Games will be at Biddle Park on D2.
- Practices will be held after school. We have confirmed with the SCS Transportation Director a bus stop can be added to Biddle Park for players in need of transportation to practice.
- Most games are double headers on weeknights. Transportation is required to games.
Travel players are allowed and games are held mostly on weeknights, so there will be little to no conflict on the weekends. MUST communicate travel schedule with Head Coach.
Evaluations - TBD. We plan to have sample uniform shirt fittings during evaluations and/or camp and will make any necessary size changes before ordering.
Open gyms- 7th and 8th graders are welcome to join the HS team for open gyms on Tuesdays and Thursdays (see below for more details).
Middle school players in grades seven and eight may register. Any interested sixth grade players can be evaluated to possibly play on this team; please register for 12u and note in the requests/comments field if they would like to be evaluated.
Alliance (Rec+ / Sunday Showcase) and All-Stars:
Alliance and All-Stars provide a higher level of competition to players. Both will be offered for 8u-14u based on interest and skill level. Players that play Alliance are not required or guaranteed to play All Stars (and vice-versa).
Alliance takes place during the normal spring rec season with double headers on Sunday afternoons within the greater Indianapolis area. Transportation is required. During registration, please indicate if your daughter is interested, and if so, how many Sundays. This information is important for planning as we will balance the Alliance Schedule with the Rec Schedule as best possible.
Interested players will be evaluated during age group evaluations on March 15 and will cost an additional $50/player if offered a spot on an Alliance Team.
All-Star tournaments start in June and SCRI will support 1-2 tournaments before July 6. Note: This cut off allows for player involvment in 4-H and other summer activities prior to the start of the school year.
A separate evaluation will be held later in the season to allow for player development. Costs will also be determined at that time. The tournament cost for All-Stars can be expensive (average $200 per team per tournament), but SCRI is normally able to cover most of these costs with sponsorships. Transportation is required.
